All original including glass. Needs to be rewired. The "8734 Series", began in 1916 and lasted until the early 1930’s. The desk lamps produced during this period are those most often found and for which the name Emeralite is most readily identified. Unlike the earlier shades, the new shades were not perforated with holes. Instead, the bottom of the shades were indented on the sides and back to fit into the channel of the newly designed and patented (August 15, 1916) armature. The armature itself had clamps which needed to be maneuvered into place in order to keep the shade snug and stable. Since the shade was merely clamped into the fixture, it could be removed for cleaning or replacement without disturbing the electric wiring that was concealed, though easily accessible.
